Barry L. Seiller, M.D.

Dr. Barry L. Seiller, graduated medical school cum laude and received specialized medical training in ophthalmology. He founded the Eye Care Center of Lake County (IL.) that has three offices and over forty employees, and has performed over 10,000 cataract operations and 7,000 Lasik procedures. Later, he received an executive MBA from Harvard Business School.

An early proponent of enhancing visual skills to improve athletic and academic performance, he began the Visual Fitness Institute to promote the improvement of visual skills necessary for success in sports and academics. He has also written on head injuries and their effects on the visual system and is the consultant to the College Board on visual disabilities.

He and his associate Kathy Puchalski, have developed the Vizual Edge Performance Trainer ® (VEPT) a computer-based program that allows athletes to assess and train their visual skills on their personal laptops at their own convenience. Dr. Seiller and Ms. Puchalski have additionally developed and implemented visual performance programs for individual high school, college, professional, and Olympic athletes as well as for teams and training facilities. James Crawford, O.D.

Dr. Crawford has been interested in sports and vision since his baseball playing days for the University of Illinois. A graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry, he coordinates contact lens procurement and fitting for the Visual Fitness Institute's clients. He serves as an Associate Director of VFI.

Anthony Serpico, O.D.

Dr. Serpico is the Associate Director to the Visual Fitness Institute. He is a graduate of Loyola University and the Illinois College of Optometry.
Dr. Serpico was Captain of his Division 1 Golf Team and is a proponent of maximizing visual performance to enhance athletic skills. His additional areas of expertise include contact lenses and protective eyewear.

Kathleen Puchalski, RN Visual Performance Specialist

Kathleen Puchalski, received her early training as a RN. However, her love of sports, she captained her school basketball and softball teams to conference championships and was a nationally ranked tennis player. Her athletic and medical background led her into the area of visual performance. She soon became one of only a few sports visual performance specialists in the world and has been a vital member and partner of the Visual Fitness Institute since 1991.

Ms. Puchalski's extensive expertise and knowledge of the visual performance field have put her in high demand around the country at the high school, collegiate, Olympic and professional levels. As co-inventor of the Vizual Edge Performance Training Program, Ms. Puchalski has traveled extensively throughout the country evaluating and providing training programs for athletes in a variety of sports.

Linda Naidicz, Contact Lens Specialist

Ms. Naidicz is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Parkside. She is a certified ophthalmic assistant with 15 years experience and Optical Manager for the Eye Care Center of Lake County.
Ms. Naidicz is the consulting Contact Lens Specialist for the U.S. Luge and Bobsled teams. She has extensive experience in contact lens instruction, management of fittings, and knowledge of related products.

Patricia Herstedt, Ophthalmic technician

An ophthalmic technician, Ms. Herstedt been an integral part of the contact lens and laser vision correction services at the Eye Care Center of Lake County for the past 5 years. She assists with the evaluation and training of visual skills at the Visual Fitness Institute .
